Hai Phong promotes green tourism growth
Identified as one of the city’s key economic sectors and making an increasingly significant contribution to GRDP, Hai Phong’s tourism industry has steadily established itself as one of the leading tourism centers in northern Vietnam in recent years, guided by a strategy focused on green and sustainable development.
As one of nine establishments meeting Hai Phong’s Green Tourism criteria, Flamingo Cat Ba Hotel has continued to enhance service quality while promoting environmental protection through measures such as reducing plastic waste, sorting waste at source, organizing beach clean-up activities, and raising awareness among residents and visitors about environmental protection.
As it continues on a path of rapid development and integration, Hai Phong is promoting tourism as a key economic sector based on its abundant natural and human resources. The city’s Green Tourism Criteria, developed to implement major policies and guidelines of the central government and the city on green growth and sustainable development, officially took effect at the end of 2025, creating conditions for tourism businesses to gradually advance their development.
In the first five months of 2026, Hai Phong’s tourism sector is estimated to receive more than 6 million arrivals, reaching 36.7% of its annual target, while revenue is estimated at 7.17 trillion dong, up 12.6% from a year earlier. Alongside efforts to promote the value of heritage sites and the advantages of marine and island resources, the upgrading of tourism products and the development of new offerings in line with the national green growth strategy and Hai Phong’s Green Growth Action Plan for 2021–2030 have delivered positive results, laying the foundation for the city to become a leading international marine and island tourism destination by 2030.
