Hai Phong Party Secretary receives courtesy visit from Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice
On the morning of June 17, Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee hosted a courtesy meeting with a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Justice of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, led by Khamphanh Phommathat. The delegation was visiting Viet Nam to attend and participate in the 7th Expanded Conference of Justice Departments of Viet Nam–Laos Border Provinces.

Attending the meeting were Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee and Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee; Khamphanh Ernthavanh Hoang Thanh Tung; and representatives of central ministries, agencies, and local departments.
On behalf of the leadership and people of Hai Phong, Secretary Le Ngoc Chau expressed his pleasure and honor in welcoming Deputy Prime Minister Khamphanh Phommathat and the Lao delegation to the city during an event of significant importance to the justice sectors of both countries.
He emphasized that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos constituted an invaluable asset that generations of leaders and citizens of both nations have carefully nurtured and preserved.
Le Ngoc Chau also highly appreciated the selection of Hai Phong as the host city for the 7th Expanded Conference of Justice Departments of Viet Nam–Laos Border Provinces and described it as a valuable opportunity for the city to contribute to strengthening solidarity and enhancing legal and judicial cooperation between ministries, sectors, and localities of the two countries.
Laos seeks deeper cooperation with Hai Phong
Expressing gratitude for the warm, thoughtful, and fraternal reception extended by Hai Phong's leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Khamphanh Phommathat praised the city's remarkable socio-economic achievements in recent years.
He expressed hope that cooperation between Lao ministries, agencies, localities, and Hai Phong would continue to expand and become more substantive in the coming period.
According to the Lao Deputy Prime Minister, the two sides still have significant potential to expand connectivity and cooperation in key sectors such as education and training, healthcare, agriculture, environment, natural resources, and mining. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing people-to-people exchanges to further strengthen solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
To implement the outcomes of the meeting and fully realize the results of the Justice Conference, Secretary Le Ngoc Chau announced that Hai Phong would assign the city's Department of Justice to serve as the focal agency for coordination with relevant organizations.
The department will be responsible for studying potential areas of cooperation, developing concrete proposals, and reporting recommendations to city leaders for consideration and implementation.
Secretary Le Ngoc Chau expressed confidence that comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States, between the justice ministries of Viet Nam and Laos, and between Hai Phong and Lao localities would continue to grow stronger and more effectively, contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity for the peoples of both countries.
At the end of the meeting, Hai Phong city leaders presented commemorative gifts to the high-level delegation from the Lao Ministry of Justice.
