In the first eight months of 2024, the total foreign investment capital attracted in Hai Phong City is estimated at about 1.7 billion USD, reaching over 85% of the year’s plan. Of which, 75 new projects were granted with registered investment capital of more than 423 million USD; 50 projects were adjusted to increase capital with an additional investment capital of more than 857 million USD; attraction through capital contribution, share purchase, capital contribution with registered capital of more than 420 million USD.

From 2019 to 2023, the city's FDI investment capital remained high, becoming crucial to Haiphong’s economic development. The FDI capital has increased gradually over the years and continuously since 2022, accounting for over 50% of the city’s total development investment capital. FDI projects contribute to creating many jobs and improving the lives of local people, creating nearly 246 thousand jobs in 2023. The FDI sector also actively contributes to promoting economic restructure transfer; strongly developing and modernizing the maritime economy, logistics, and seaports, as well as accompanying social security.
