Supporting development of local agricultural brands
Ky Son glutinous rice is a traditional indigenous variety preserved and cultivated by farmers in Tan Trao commune of the former Kien Thuy district, now Kien Hung commune.
The rice is distinguished by its uniquely twisted grains and characteristic aroma and stickiness. It is popular in local and regional markets, widely used during Lunar New Year and festive occasions, and often chosen by visitors as gifts for relatives and friends. The variety has been granted a collective trademark registration certificate by the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
To support market expansion and the sustainable development of the locality's key agricultural product, the Hai Phong Centre for Innovation and Science-Technology Applications, in coordination with the communal People's Committee, is implementing a city-level science and technology project under the program " Supporting the management, promotion and development of the collective trademark "Ky Son Sticky Rice".
The project is also expected to create local employment opportunities and improve incomes, encouraging residents, especially young workers, to remain in their hometowns.
