Rehearsal of the Opening Art Program for the 2026 Red Flamboyant Festival in Hai Phong
On the evening of May 5, 2026, at the square of the Political–Administrative Center in the Bac Song Cam New Urban Area in Hai Phong, a full rehearsal was held for the opening art program of the 2026 Red Flamboyant Festival. The program, themed “Hai Phong – Convergence – Radiance,” is organized to celebrate the 71st anniversary of Hai Phong’s Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2026).
The rehearsal was attended by city leaders, including Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee Do Thanh Trung; Head of the Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Quang Phuc; Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung; along with representatives of various departments, agencies, and units. Members of the City’s Art Council were also present to review and evaluate the program.
The art program conveys the message that Hai Phong is a land of convergence—where historical traditions, cultural values, and the character of its people come together and flourish. Known as a heroic port city with a rich cultural heritage, Hai Phong continues to affirm its position as a center of industry, seaports, culture, and international integration. The program also highlights the city’s strong development momentum in the post-merger period, promoting an image of a dynamic, innovative, modern, and globally connected Hai Phong that is steadily advancing toward becoming a major industrial and port hub, as well as a key growth engine of northern Vietnam and the nation.
The program is elaborately staged and divided into three chapters, featuring a selection of songs beloved by multiple generations, reflecting the identity and spirit of Hai Phong and its people.
Chapter I, “Hai Phong – Epic of the Frontier Waves,” opens the program with powerful performances such as “Heroic Spirit of the Seaport,” “Chronicles of the Bach Dang River,” “Flames of Flowers – Nothing More Beautiful,” and “The City of Red Flamboyant Flowers.” This chapter emphasizes the city’s historical depth and heroic traditions associated with its coastal and maritime heritage.
Chapter II, “Converging Sources,” continues the narrative by celebrating the cultural richness and human values of the region. Featured performances include “The Cultured Land of Xu Dong,” “Afternoon at the Harbor,” “Hai Phong in the Red of Flamboyant Flowers,” “My City,” and “Hai Phong Spreads Its Wings.” Together, they highlight the city as a meeting point of traditions, aspirations, and creative energy.
Chapter III, “Aspiration to Shine,” brings the program to a vibrant and modern conclusion, expressing Hai Phong’s vision for the future. Highlights include “City of Music,” featuring a medley of songs such as “My Homeland Port,” “City of May,” and “Essence of Vietnam”; “Radiant Glory”; “Lighting Up the City” with the song “See the Light”; and “Hai Phong Shines,” combining “My Hai Phong,” “Hai Phong Takes Off,” and “Hai Phong Shines.”
The program incorporates works by many well-known composers, including Xuân Bình, Phạm Việt Tuân, Nguyễn Hùng, Hải Như – Lương Vinh, Nguyen Đuc Toan, Quynh Hip, Phuc Bo, Ho Bac, Nguyen Hai Phong, My Tam, and Huy Tuan.
It also features performances by a distinguished lineup of artists such as People’s Artists Khanh Haa and Nhat Thuan; Meritorious Artists Dang Duong and Vu Thang Loi and popular singers including My Tam, Trong Tan, Pham Thu Ha, Duong Hoang Yan, Nguyen Ngac Anh, RAMC, Thai Hien, and the Oplus group.
