Delegation of national assembly's economic and financial committee works in Hai Phong
On the morning of May 18, a delegation of the National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee, led by Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Diên, Member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, worked with the Hai Phong People’s Committee on the implementation of Party and National Assembly resolutions and conclusions, aimed at achieving double-digit growth targets and carrying out key national transportation projects.
The delegation also included Phan Văn Mãi, member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee. Mr. Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee, along with members of the City Party Standing Committee, vice chairmen of the City People’s Council, and vice chairmen of the City People’s Committee, received and worked with the delegation.
In the first quarter of this year, the city’s GRDP growth rose 11.21% year-on-year, ranking third nationwide and first among the country’s six centrally governed cities.
In the first four months of the year, many key indicators increased compared with the same period last year. Notably, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 15%, total retail sales of goods and services increased 15.3%, and total export turnover climbed 26.2%. Tourist arrivals reached about 4.13 million, up 12.7%. Total state budget revenue reached 40.3% of the assigned target, while foreign direct investment (FDI) increased 76.26%. Cumulative disbursement by the end of April rose 58.3% from the same period last year.
Regarding the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway construction project, the city has completed land surveys, mapping and land ownership registration to prepare land acquisition dossiers for the main route in 23 communes, wards and special zones. Temporary markers have been installed to manage the land area since June 16, 2025, with around 1,749 households subject to resettlement.
Earlier, the delegation conducted a field survey at the location of the southern railway station in Hai Phong, part of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway
