Organizing a Series of Special Activities for the 2026 Red Flamboyant Festival at the Central Flower Garden Strip and City Theater
The City People’s Committee has issued a plan to organize a series of activities in the Central Flower Garden area and the City Theater during the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026.
The organization of cultural, culinary, tourism, and street art activities in the central city strip is part of the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026, aiming to create a joyful and vibrant atmosphere for residents during the historic May celebrations marking the liberation of Hai Phong (May 13). At the same time, it promotes and introduces distinctive local cuisine, unique cultural values, tourism products, and artistic performances, contributing to tourism stimulation and attracting visitors to Hai Phong. The event also supports the vision of building Hai Phong into a “City of Music,” where music becomes a cultural pillar and a driver for tourism and socio-economic development.
The activities will take place over 7 days, from May 7 to May 13, 2026, at the Central Flower Garden Strip (from Quang Trung Street – in front of the statue of General Le Chan – to Tran Hung Dao Street near the central gas station) and the square in front of the City Theater. Event hours and temporary traffic adjustments are scheduled daily from 5:30 PM to midnight. The opening ceremony is expected at 5:30 PM on May 7, 2026 (Thursday) at the City Theater Square.
Within the program, the main stage in front of the City Theater will host a variety of special performances, with a different theme each night:
• May 7: Opening ceremony, parade, and performances by international art troupes
• May 8: Live broadcast screening of the official festival opening ceremony on LED screens
• May 9:
o 5:30 PM: Parade “Hai Phong – Quintessence of Heritage Regions”
o 6:30 PM: The 4th Expanded Hai Phong Puppet Festival 2026
• May 10: Zumba show by Hai Phong Zumba clubs
• May 11: Children’s music night “Seeds of the Port City”
• May 12: Street music performances
• May 13: Music program “City Rhythms”
In addition, there will be 18 exhibition booths divided into two areas:
• “Old Space” (8 booths): Traditional cuisine and tourism promotion, featuring local specialties such as crab noodle soup (bánh đa cua), crab spring rolls (nem cua bể), pate bread (bánh mì pa-tê Cột Đèn), mung bean cakes, and Tứ Kỳ ragworm dishes.
• “Modern Space” (10 booths): Contemporary and fusion cuisine with participation from companies and well-known restaurants offering diverse culinary styles.
The culinary area will also host interactive activities, street music exchanges, and cultural exploration through local dishes, along with performances of folk and modern arts, street dance, DJ shows, guitar solos, and circus acts.
