First session of the 16th national assembly concludes
After 12 days of deliberations and high sense of responsibility, the first session of the 16th National Assembly on April 24 completed its full agenda.
The session focused on consolidating the state apparatus and electing senior state leaders.
Lawmakers also passed a number of important resolutions and draft laws, including the establishment of Dong Nai City; the pilot of public lawyers system drawn from civil servants, public employees, officers of the People's Army and People's Public Security, and employees of state-owned enterprises.
The National Assembly also officially abolished the annual revenue threshold of VND 500 million for household businesses subject to tax. In addition, it approved a resolution on the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026-2031, endorsing the goal of achieving double-digit growth, with annual GDP growth averaging at least 10%.
Hai Phong was assigned an average GRDP growth target of 13-14% for the 2026-2030 period, the highest in the country.
