Ensuring safety in waterway traffic
Although waterway traffic rarely has accidents, collisions often cause serious consequences for people and property. With many inland waterway wharves located at estuaries, interwoven with maritime channels, ensuring order and safety of inland waterway traffic in Hai Phong is always a high-level concern.

On the Cam River route, the Waterway Police Department assigned working groups to check the concentration of alcohol and drugs for vehicle drivers, crew members and conditions to ensure vehicle safety. To date, the unit has handled eight cases of alcohol violations, 151 of exceeding the waterline, and many other violations.
Hai Phong City has thousands of inland waterway vessels, including ships, boats, and ferries across the rivers. There are 78 passenger transport businesses, 31 inland ports, wharves, as well as three other anchorages. The initiative and activeness of the waterway police force contribute to the prevention, detection, and strict handling of violations by crew members and vehicle drivers. From there, take measures to manage, control and reduce traffic accidents. The drastic intervention of the waterway police force demonstrates the determination of the city police to restore traffic order and safety, ensure the safety of people's lives and property, and complete the goal of reducing traffic accidents by 5–10% this year.
