Over more than 70 years of development, the Vietnam People’s Navy has recorded numerous outstanding achievements, including feats of arms regarded as legendary milestones of the Vietnamese armed forces and the nation in the Ho Chi Minh era.
In recognition of its achievements, the Vietnam People’s Navy has previously been awarded the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces twice, along with two Gold Star Orders, three Ho Chi Minh Orders and many other prestigious distinctions.
The third conferment of the title is considered a major source of encouragement for officers and soldiers to further uphold their proud traditions, successfully fulfill assigned tasks and serve as a core force in firmly safeguarding the country’s maritime sovereignty.
On behalf of Party and State leaders and the Central Military Commission, General Secretary To Lam extended his congratulations and best wishes to officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Navy, praising the force’s particularly outstanding achievements in recent years.
He called on the Vietnam People’s Navy to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on military and defense affairs, with emphasis on new strategic thinking on national defense and homeland protection set out in the resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress.
The Navy was also urged to effectively implement the directives known as “two steadfast commitments, two accelerations and two preventive measures” and the goal of building “five-strong” units, while developing comprehensively strong agencies and units that are “exemplary and outstanding.”
He stressed the need to build the Vietnam People’s Navy into a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern force with a streamlined and efficient structure.
