Strengthening grassroots trade unions
In recent years, trade unions at all levels across the city have continued to renew their operations with a stronger focus on grassroots organisation and closer engagement with union members and employees. This commitment is reflected not only in policies but also in a range of effective grassroots initiatives that have enhanced the quality of representation, care, and protection of the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
Since January 2026, the Trade Union of Hai Phong Water Supply Joint Stock Company has proactively developed a plan to implement the "Socialist Grassroots Trade Union" model for the 2026–2030 period. The union has established a Steering Committee and a Working Group, developed a system of assessment forms based on 4 standards and 8 criteria, and conducted surveys covering 100% of union members and employees to support the model's implementation.
During the first 6 months of this year, trade unions across the city established 482 grassroots trade unions, achieving 230% of the annual target. Notably, the implementation of the "Socialist Grassroots Trade Union" model at 65 units is gradually setting new standards for trade union activities, with the goal of building stronger grassroots organisations and placing effective service to union members and employees at the centre of all efforts.
