Rush to complete K15 wharf historical site preservation project
With its exceptional historical significance, Hai Phong city has launched a comprehensive restoration and preservation project at the K15 Wharf historical site complex to safeguard and promote its value.
The project is being carried out with a modern, integrated approach while preserving its core historical features. At present, the project management board and contractors are racing to complete the work in time for the April 30 anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
The project, implemented by the Hai Phong Transport Works Construction Investment Project Management Board, covers about 2.28 hectares. Major components include the restoration and overall landscaping of the site, a memorial monument, a public square, a pier for flower-floating ceremonies, a temple dedicated to heroic martyrs, replicas of the unnumbered ships and their soldiers, a relief of General Vo Nguyen Giap with naval forces, sea embankment expansion, and other supporting facilities.
With total investment of more than 234.5 billion dong from the city budget, the construction now being accelerated. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this month, around five to six months ahead of schedule.
The restoration of the K15 Wharf historical site complex will not only improve its architecture and landscape, but also strengthen its educational value and reaffirm its role as a prominent historical landmark - a venue for political, cultural and tourism activities for both the city and the nation.
