Preserving revolutionary music legacy
Composer Đỗ Nhuận is widely recognized as a prominent symbol of Vietnam’s revolutionary music, with works that accompanied the nation through many historic periods. To preserve and spread this musical legacy to the wider public and younger generations, the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will organize the art program “Đỗ Nhuận – The Sound of Life” this December.

The late composer Đỗ Nhuận — a great name, a true “giant tree” of Vietnamese Revolutionary Music, and a son of Hai Phong, devoted his entire life to the nation as both a soldier and an artist. He was also the first General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association and a pioneer who laid the foundation for the development of Vietnamese opera. To honor his remarkable musical contributions and continue to bring his invaluable artistic legacy closer to the public, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, together with the Contemporary Arts Theatre, has developed a plan to stage the commemorative art program marking the 103rd birthday of Composer Đỗ Nhuận: “Đỗ Nhuận – The Sound of Life.”
The art program “Đỗ Nhuận – The Sound of Life” will be meticulously produced as a musical journey that recreates the life and career of Composer Đỗ Nhuận. It will feature a team of renowned artists and stage professionals from across Vietnam’s performing arts scene. The program not only expresses Hai Phong City’s gratitude for composer Đỗ Nhuận’s contributions but also helps bring traditional revolutionary music closer to contemporary audiences. It is a meaningful cultural activity within the Hai Phong Television Theatre program 2025, reaffirming the city’s commitment to preserving and promoting traditional artistic values. The performance will take place this December at the City Theatre and will be broadcast live on Hai Phong Newspaper and Hai Phong Radio–Television’s channels and digital platforms
