After nearly 12 years of operation, the marine ecosystem around Bach Long Vi island has gradually been restored. The residents of the special zone have gradually changed their awareness, actively participated in protecting the marine ecosystem for sustainable development of fishing and aquaculture.
The Bach Long Vi marine area has nearly 400 species of high economic value, and many rare species of seaweed... In particular, within the scope of the marine protected area, there are 94 species of coral belonging to 27 genera and 12 families. The plankton resources in this area are quite rich with 227 species of phytoplankton and 110 species of zooplankton discovered.

Bach Long Vi marine reserve is home to many rare species such as sea cucumbers and snails, in addition to rocky reefs, coral reefs, and seagrass... Since Bach Long Vi marine reserve came into operation, the number of marine species, shrimp, and fish has increased significantly. According to the plan, every day, the staffs of Bach Long Vi marine reserve take petrol to grasp fishing activities and prevent violations. In addition to the conservation and protection of marine species, it needs to raise awareness of the residents of strictly implementing regulations on fishing. This effort has attributed to the gradual recovery of the ecosystem in the Bach Long Vi Marine Reserve; making an important contribution to the overall development of the Bach Long Vi special zone, helping the zone continue to be a major fishing exploitation and logistics center in the Gulf of Tonkin.
