It is among the largest container ships in the world and the biggest ever to call at Hateco Terminal in Hai Phong Port. The ceremony was attended by Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, and Le Anh Quan, Standing Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Do Manh Hien.
A representative of COSCO Shipping praised the port’s well-planned investment and professional operations, saying it meets the requirements for handling mega vessels such as COSCO SHIPPING AQUARIUS.
The successful reception of the 197,000-DWT vessel underscores the capacity of Hateco Terminal in particular, and the Lach Huyen port in general to accommodate mega ships. The development is expected to strengthen maritime trade links between northern Vietnam and global markets.
It also provides a basis for international shipping lines to deploy larger vessels to Hai Phong, helping optimise logistics costs and attract both domestic and foreign investment into the city and the northern region.
