Expressing his pleasure at welcoming the delegation, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong provided an overview of the city’s outstanding potential, competitive advantages, and remarkable socio-economic achievements. As Viet Nam’s third-largest city, with a modern and well-developed transportation infrastructure that has received significant investment, Hai Phong has been making an important contribution to the country’s overall development.
Regarding investment attraction, the city currently hosted 35 active FDI projects from U.S. investors, with a total registered investment capital of more than USD 965 million. The United States ranked 9th in the number of projects and 7th in total investment capital among countries and territories investing in Hai Phong.
Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that with its strengths, potential development, newly expanded growth space, and attractive investment policies, there remained substantial room for cooperation between Hai Phong and the United States. He expressed hope that the delegation’s visit would serve as an important catalyst for strengthening the traditional friendship and promoting investment and trade activities between the United States and Viet Nam in general and between the United States and Hai Phong in particular
On behalf of the city’s leadership, he affirmed that Hai Phong would continue to accompany and provide the most favorable conditions for foreign investors, especially U.S. businesses to explore opportunities, establish partnerships, and invest successfully and sustainably in the city.
Expressing appreciation for the warm reception from Hai Phong’s leaders, Political Counselor Pierce Davis said that he was deeply impressed by the city’s remarkable socio-economic development achievements in recent years.
The head of the delegation stated that these comprehensive accomplishments provided a solid foundation for both sides to further expand cooperation in strategic areas of mutual interest including development of green seaport systems, modern logistics infrastructure, energy transition, digital transformation, circular economy development and sustainable urban development.
