Economy in Q1 maintains growth monentum
In the first quarter of 2026, despite global economic volatility, particularly the Middle East conflict affecting supply chains, energy prices and global trade, the city’s economy maintained positive growth.

From the beginning of the year, the city stepped up direction in line with central policies, with a focus on key priorities and measures. As a result, Hai Phong’s economy in the first quarter recorded continued growth compared to the same period last year. Gross regional domestic product GRDP rose 10.87%, the highest among centrally governed cities.

Conflicts in the Middle East could continue to push up oil prices, transport costs and input materials, affecting logistics, industrial production and trade – the key fields of Hai Phong.
To meet the 13% growth target in 2026, the city needs to maintain proactive management, improve forecasting, and accelerate key projects, with progress expected in the second quarter to support growth.
At the same time, efforts are needed to address bottlenecks for businesses and support smooth production and investment.
