At the training session, the Rapporteur presented the core contents of the Law on Geology and Minerals passed by the National Assembly on November 29, 2024, effective from July 1, 2025. This important legal document sets up a synchronous and comprehensive legal framework with the aim of overcoming the limitations of the 2010 Law on Minerals and towards sustainable management and development of national resources. The new law gives more autonomy to localities in granting licenses for exploration, exploitation, planning, investigation, management and protection of minerals. The law focuses on five major policy groups, including geological resources, basic geological surveys, data information management, financial policies and management of mining activities associated with environmental protection.
