Inauguration of May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) over the Cam River
On the morning of August 19, at Point 01 in Ngo Quyen Ward, Hai Phong City People’s Committee coordinated with Vingroup Corporation to organize the inauguration ceremony of the May Chai Bridge construction project and the access roads on both sides of the bridge.

This is one of three bridge registered with the Ministry of Construction to jointly organize with the whole country the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies of projects to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
Also on the morning of August 19, Hai Phong solemnly held the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of nine key projects at six locations. The event has special significance, demonstrating the determination and strong aspiration of the Port city in the new development stage.
Attending the inauguration at Point 01 were: Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee, Head of the city’s National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Danh Huy, Deputy Minister of Construction; Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee; Le Anh Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee; Dao Trong Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chief of Office of the City Party Committee; along with leaders of departments, agencies, and localities of the city.
The May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) and the roads on both sides of the bridge are part of the Vũ Yên Island Entertainment, Housing, and Ecological Park Project (Vinhomes Royal Island) – Hai Phong. The bridge has a total length of nearly 2.2 km, width of 21 m with four lanes, connecting Vu Yen Island to Le Thanh Tong Street, shortening travel time to the city center to less than five minutes. More than just a traffic link, Royal Bridge stands as a new symbol of Hai Phong with its unique design: two arch-shaped pylons at both ends of the bridge, evoking the image of birds soaring high while also symbolizing the “World Gateway Bridge” – a friendly invitation to breakthrough investment and business opportunities in the region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau emphasized that the simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of nine key projects in diverse fields such as transportation, aviation, healthcare, culture, and social welfare reaffirmed the determination of the city’s Party Committee, authorities, and people to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 16th Hai Phong Party Congress.
The Chairman affirmed that these projects not only improved modern infrastructure, boosted socio-economic development, and enhanced people’s quality of life but also expanded urban space, strengthened interregional connectivity, and gradually affirmed Hai Phong’ s position as a development hub of the Northern region.
He acknowledged and praised the investors, consultants, and contractors who worked tirelessly with the spirit of “overcoming sun and rain, three shifts, four teams,” working through holidays and Tet without breaks to accelerate progress and ensure quality. He also highly appreciated the close and effective coordination of departments, sectors, and localities that facilitated the projects’ completion on schedule.
With the tradition of “ Cultural Eastern Land– Heroic Port Land ” and a spirit of innovation and creativity, the Chairman expressed confidence that the inaugurated and groundbreaking projects are not only vivid demonstrations of Hai Phong’s strong aspiration for growth but also a solid foundation for building a green, civilized, modern, smart, and sustainable Port city, making worthy contributions to the development of the country.
