Promoting Cooperation In Logistics And Seaports Between Hai Phong City And The Netherlands
On March 20th afternoon, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Mark Harbers, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands. Accompanying the Minister was Mr. Kees van Baar, Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, and other relevant representatives.


Welcoming the Dutch delegation to Hai Phong, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung the Minister on several matters of the city: Being the third biggest city in Vietnam, Hai Phong benefits from its deep water seaports, an international airport, and a well-connected traffic system. In terms of investment, the city constantly welcomes investments and offers many favorable policies for investors. As of now, the city has amassed over 30 billion USD in FDI capital from over 800 projects and 43 countries, of which the Netherlands is part of 16 projects with 302 million USD in capital, ranking tenth among the investing countries in Hai Phong City. Mr. Chairman hoped that, after the meeting, the Dutch Minister would pay attention and introduce Hai Phong City to more Dutch businesses, so they could visit and invest in the city. 

Mr. Mark Harbers, in turn, thanked Mr. Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee for having welcomed the delegation. After over 400 years since the first Dutch ship arrived in Hai Phong, there has been a longtime maritime tradition between the two sides. Now, most Dutch investors in Hai Phong City conduct businesses in shipbuilding and maritime services, a mutual interest for the city and the Netherlands. Mr. Mark Harbers highly appreciated the city’s efforts in improving the investment environment and supporting Dutch investors, hoping to see more Dutch businesses in other fields make investments in the city in the coming time.

Hai Phong City will continue to cooperate with the Netherlands in ship-building and constructing berths in Lach Huyen Seaports. Mr. Nguyen Van Tung also wished that in the future, Dutch investors in logistics and seaport services would come to the city’s upcoming Nam Do Son Seaport./.
