To soon complete Lach Huyen – Haiphong port design plan
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai recently hosted a
meeting to direct the Ministry of Transportation, the investor and the design
consultant to soon complete the design plan as well as necessary preparations
for the construction of Lach Huyen – Haiphong
International Gateway Seaport. This is a large-scaled port project which can
receive container ships and vessels up to 100,000 DWT, and suit the demand on goods
circulation in Haiphong
which has already been overstrained.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai recently hosted a
meeting to direct the Ministry of Transportation, the investor and the design
consultant to soon complete the design plan as well as necessary preparations
for the construction of Lach Huyen – Haiphong
International Gateway Seaport. This is a large-scaled port project which can
receive container ships and vessels up to 100,000 DWT, and suit the demand on goods
circulation in Haiphong
which has already been overstrained.
With
total invested capital of more than VND 18,600 billion, the project will carry
out dredging 17.4 kilometers of shipping routes and turning basin, and
constructing 3,230 meters of breakwater, 7,600 meters of sand-control groin, and
2 terminals for container ships up to 100,000 DWT.
At
the meeting, the consultant presented the design estimates, especially issues
regarding to the disposal of dredged soil, which is a large-scaled package with
a huge quantity of works, i.e. 37 million cubic meters as total estimated.
After considering and recapitulating comments, Deputy Prime Minister guided
Ministry of Transportation to implement tasks in detail to relevant agencies of
the project, and soon bring out appraisals and proposals on technical design
plans which are suited to the condition, target, feasibility and effectiveness
of the Lach Huyen port project. Deputy Prime Minister also suggested to pay
attention to accounting data in the design plans, environmental impact
assessment of the whole project as well as of the waterway dredging package. Ministry
of Planning and Investment and Ministry of Finance worked out proposals on
corresponding capital to implement the project in 2012.
