Signing of the consulting service contract for design package under Hai Phong urban transport development project

On the morning of May 26^th, the Management Unit of transportation and traffic projects signed a contract with SMEC International (Australia) - the winning contractor of CS1 A package - "Detailed design, tender preparation, construction bidding supports - Component A” of Hai Phong urban transport development project. City People's Committee Standing Vice Chairman Dan Duc Hiep attended and witnessed the signing.

Haiphong Urban Transport Development Project was granted a loan by World Bank in March. The project has three components, where component A includes: construction works of East-West road from Bac Son (An Duong district) to Nam Hai (Hai An district) of 20km; to renovate deteriorated Niem 1 bridge deck and Truong Chinh road surface; site clearance compensation, and resettlement etc. CS1A, which is a consulting service for design and procurement support of the component A (without resettlement task), is funded by World Bank with a 100% preferential ODA loan. The overall objective of the consultancy services aims at providing sub-components A1, A2 with technical drawings, architectural conformity, detailed designs, cost estimates, bidding documents; and supporting the project management unit in the selection of construction contractors. The total cost of the package is more than VND 81 billion to be implemented in 22 month from June 1^st 2011 to December 4^th 2013. At the signing ceremony, SMEC international committed to adhere to the schedule and all other requirements./.
