Linking value chains, consuming agricultural and aquatic products
The Department of Agriculture and Environment has just organized the Agricultural Extension Forum "Linking value chains, consuming agricultural and aquatic products effectively and sustainably".
The forum is an opportunity for professional agencies, managers, enterprises, cooperatives, and producers to assess the current situation, analyze opportunities and challenges of the city's agricultural and aquatic products sector, and propose solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles. Hai Phong currently has 185,000 hectares of agricultural production, of which nearly 160,000 hectares are rice, with an output of 800-900 thousand tons of rice /year; 45,000 hectares of vegetables, with an output of 900 thousand - 1 million tons/year; 28,000 hectares of fruit trees, with an output of 400–450 thousand tons, and over 1,000 hectares of flowers and ornamental plants, providing millions of seedlings, flowers, and ornamental plants each year. In addition, livestock production reaches 244,000 tons of fresh meat, 360 million eggs/year; 23,000 hectares of aquaculture, with an output of about 190,000 tons/year; marine exploitation reaches over 681,000 tons/year. This is a great potential for developing both exploitation, aquaculture and fishery logistics services. In the coming period, the city’s agricultural sector aims to build a modern, ecological, efficient and sustainable agriculture, associated with green growth. This is an important driving force to increase farmers' income, contributing to ensuring food security and affirming the position of the agricultural and aquatic economic center of the Northern Coastal region.
