Applying Biometric technology in aviation industry
The technology of applying e-identification and biometric authentication for check-in procedures (also known as full-process biometrics) allows passengers to check in without presenting documents by using biometric data such as facial recognition, fingerprints in place of traditional checking methods. It helps shorten time, improve security and bring more convenience.

With the full-process biometric application for check-in procedures, passengers can check in through the VNEID application or check in directly at the counter, then authenticate their faces at security checkpoints and boarding gates using automatic devices integrated with biometrics. There’s no need to present documents for checking as before. The Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) has issued a directive on strengthening the implementation of e-identification and biometric authentication for check-in procedures at affiliated airports and airfields.
ACV requires airports to arrange technical staffs on duty 24/7, set up a "VNEID Support" area, arrange staffs to directly support passengers during the entire check-in process, especially during peak hours; develop a plan to classify passengers, prioritize travel flows for passengers who have been biometrically authenticated so as to reduce time and increase service quality. The application of e-identification and biometric authentication on VNEID brings many practical, fast and convenient benefits to passengers as well as improves the efficiency of management, aviation security and the national digital transformation.
