Exactly 80 years ago, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the people of Hai Phong - Kien An launched an uprising, overthrowing the old government and establishing a revolutionary government in Hai Phong on August 23, 1945

The historic August Revolution is not only mentioned at in the pages of history but also still live vividly in the streets, from the City Theater Square, where the red flags were fluttering on the historic days to the small alleys.
 House No. 1, hamlet 42 Me Linh, Le Chan Ward from 1927 to 1929 was the headquarters of the new government; in the period of 1929 - 1930, it became the secret agency of the Indochina Communist Party Provincial Committee, closely associated with the activities of the first Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee Nguyen Duc Canh.
Built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the City Theater is not only a construction of cultural and artistic values, but also a historical witness marking many important events of Hai Phong. At 10:00 a.m. on August 23, 1945, a huge rally of over 100,000 city people was held. The Uprising Committee announced the abolition of the puppet government of Japanese fascists and the establishment of Hai Phong People's Revolutionary Government. From that autumn, Hai Phong city has gone through 80 years of construcion and development. The Party Committee, government, army and people of the city in the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the American imperialists have further enhanced the tradition of "Loyalty - Determination to Win". With absolute faith in the leadership of the Party, Hai Phong city is striving to build up the city worthy of the tradition of a heroic city./.
