Ensuring Maritime Safety When Operating Dong Bai Ferry Terminal
Lach Huyen channel, where the new Dong Bai-Cai Vieng ferry line operates, plays a crucial role in transporting vehicles and boats entering and leaving Hai Phong ports. Therefore, ensuring the safety of ships navigating through this channel is of utmost importance.
Khẩn trương hoàn thiện thủ tục, đảm bảo các điều kiện để đưa bến phà Đồng Bài chính thức đi vào khai thác, hoạt động từ ngày 1/3/2024

Starting from March 1st, the new Dong Bai ferry terminal has officially opened to replace the Got ferry terminal, serving the transportation needs of people and tourists traveling between Cat Hai and Cat Ba archipelago. This change has impacted the traffic flow in the Lach Huyen channel, prompting Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority to take proactive measures to guarantee the security and safety of vehicles passing through the area.

Previously, anchoring positions were available at the Got wharf area, near the gate of the Ha  Nam canal, allowing ships to anchor and wait until their turn to enter the canal. Ha Nam Canal is designed for one-way traffic of vehicles moving from the Bach Dang channel to the Lach Huyen channel and vice versa. Immediately after the announcement of the Department of Transport and the city's direction on officially putting the new ferry terminal into operation starting March 1st, the Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority coordinated with parties to ensure safety for ferry operations, passengers, and ships.

However, with the operational changes when having a new ferry terminal, the port authority is considering relocating the anchor locations downstream to accommodate the new traffic flow. According to the unit's representative, there are challenges in managing large tonnage ships due to the cable car piers in the area, requiring further research and planning. At this point, the port authority also requested Hai Phong Coastal Information Station to increase propaganda about the operation of the new ferry so that ships passing through the area could proactively circulate safely./.
