Construction
of Ha Long-Hai Phong Highway
kick-started
On the morning of September 13th, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province,
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung kicked off construction of a highway connecting
Ha Long city in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh to Bach Dang bridge
in the port city of Hai Phong. This is a key project linking Hanoi-Hai Phong
highway to Ha Long and extending to the Mong Cai international border gate in
the future.
Once completed, the project will help shorten the travel time between Hai
Phong and Quang Ninh, link the economic triangle of Ha Noi- Hai Phong – Quang
Ninh as well as promote socio-economic development in the Northern key economic
zone.
The highway project connecting Ha
Long city (Quang Ninh) and Bach Dang bridge (Hai Phong) has a total
investment capital of over VND 6.4 trillion sourced from Quang Ninh province’s
budget and other mobilizing sources.
The project to construct the nearly 20km long-highway is designed with four
lanes capable of withstanding speed of 100km per hour. This is one of 2
component projects on the road system connecting Ha Long and Hai Phong. It is
slated that after 2 years of execution, this route will connect Hanoi - Hai Phong highway
to Ha Long and extend to Mong Cai international border gate in the future. This not only shortens the travel time
between Hai Phong and Quang Ninh by 45 km but also connects the economic
triangle of Hanoi
- Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, promotes social and economic development of the
Northern key economic zone.
This is also a key factor which helps increase investment
attraction to Quang Ninh and other localities in the region, contributing to
boosting trade exchange with ASEAN nations and China.
