National Workers’ Football Championship Kicked Off
On September 9th morning, Vietnam Maritime University hosted the opening ceremony for the qualifying round of the 2023 National Workers' Football Championship, Region I. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Vietnam’s General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Pham Tat Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee attended the opening ceremony.

The tournament marked the first time Vietnamese workers and civil employees had an opportunity to participate in a football championship on a national scale. Region I’s qualifying round will take place in Hai Phong City with the participation of eight teams, of which the host city has three. Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, and Thai Binh provinces join the championship with one team each. The teams are divided into two groups to compete with one another at Vietnam Maritime University from September 8th - 10th with 16 matches.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the matches of the qualifying round – region I took place. The four best teams are qualified to the semi-finals. The 3rd place match, final, and closing ceremony will be held this afternoon, September 10th. The qualifying round of the national workers’ football championship will take place in 8 regions across the country from September to October. The eight group stage champions will enter the final round, scheduled for November in Binh Duong province. The total prize value of the event is up to 840 million VND.
On the sidelines of the event, there will also be a "Worker's Day" with many discount sales activities, lucky draws, gift giving, shopping vouchers, etc., along with cultural and artistic exchange programs and meetings with well-known artists and football players, recruitment connection activities between businesses and workers, etc.
