The Kim Dong Monument was designed and constructed based on the sketch code TP020 by sculptor Trinh The Hoi (First Prize winner in the contest for sketches and architectural plans for statues of famous people, sculptures located in flower gardens and parks in Hai Phong City), the sketch was approved in principle by the City Party Committee and People's Committee. The Kim Dong Monument is made of white stone depicting the image of the Hero of the People's Armed Force, Kim Dong, located in Kim Dong Flower Garden, with a height of 4.35m, and a total construction area of 167.4 m2.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Hoang Mai said that the Kim Dong Monument is a valuable work of art rich in historical education, contributing to fostering awareness of patriotism among the city's youth, encouraging the spirit of enthusiasm in studying, training, and promoting the tradition of "Young age, great ambition". The monument creates a highlight in the urban architecture and tourism of Hai Phong, contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the city, as well as attracting people and tourists. The leader of the Department of Culture and Sports also emphasized that the inauguration of the Kim Dong Monument on the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the martyr Kim Dong's sacrifice is a meaningful event to show respect and honor to the martyr Kim Dong./.
