Urban drainage and wastewater treatment in Hai Phong
On the afternoon of Dec. 31, Hai Phong's Standing People's Council held a meeting to review a draft report on monitoring compliance with laws on urban drainage and wastewater management. Mr. Dao Trong Duc, member of Haiphong Standing Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the city Standing People's Council, chaired the meeting.

The draft report notes two urban wastewater plants with a total capacity of 49,000 cubic meters per day/night, plus 45 stations in residential areas handling over 50,400 cubic meters daily. Treatment covers about 32.22% of wastewater. According to wastewater treatment plant in the 2025-2050 period, there are 30 plants and stations put into operation, but now, only 6 (20%) are underway. Western areas lack planned pumping stations, self-flowing drains, and comprehensive flood fixes.
At the meeting, delegates offered key feedback. The city Standing People's Council Vice Chairman Dao Trong Duc endorsed their views and added points on clarifying issues, implementation of directives, and solutions to submit the draft for the city Standing people’s Council./.
