Smart ports improve operational effciency
Not just a destination for ships and a place for cargo loading and unloading, smart seaports are designed as a comprehensive digital ecosystem. Here, every step from ship coordination, warehouse management, cargo delivery to customs procedures is integrated with advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), AI, e-Port and smart camera surveillance systems, creating an efficient transportation process and improving the efficiency of imports and exports.
Since Hateco Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HHIT) officially put automatic gate into operation in June this year, vehicle turnaround time has been reduced to an average of only 15-20 minutes. With the context of the rapidly changing global supply chain, smart seaports have become an inevitable requirement to improve national and local competitiveness.
In particular, connecting inter-sectoral data among parties from seaports, import-export enterprises, shipping lines to customs agencies helps to increase transparency and optimize the logistics chain. In Viet Nam, the transition to a smart seaport model has been strongly promoted in a number of key localities, including Hai Phong city, which has contributed to improving port exploitation efficiency and facilitating import-export activities.
