Program "65 years of Viet Nam - Cuba Friendship"
A national donation campaign was launched in Hanoi on August 13 to rally support for the Cuban people on the occasion of the Viet Nam – Cuba Friendship Year and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations
Organised by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Central Committee in coordination with ministries, central agencies, and mass organisations, the event was held in person and online, connecting with 33 localities nationwide.
The program “65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship” takes place in 65 days (from August 13 to October 16) to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people. The program is even more meaningful when it is launched on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the birth of leader Fidel Castro (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2025). The goal of the program is to mobilize at least 65 billion VND to support the Cuban people with food, necessities and sustainable humanitarian activities. Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Đỗ Văn Chiến said the programme reflects Vietnam’s consistent affection for Cuba and its people. Over the past 65 years, he noted, bilateral ties have become a model of pure, loyal, and enduring international solidarity. In any circumstance, Vietnam always stands shoulder to shoulder with Cuba, supported each other in all difficulties and challenges. The program is a political-social event of profound diplomatic significance, demonstrating the consistent sentiment of the Party, State and People of Viet Nam towards Cuba on the path of national independence and socialism./.
