On the occasion of 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on September 2 this year, Viet Nam Airports Corporation (ACV) organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the T2 Passenger Terminal Construction Project - Cat Bi International Airport. This is one of 9 projects that have been started and inaugurated in the city on this occasion and has been chosen as one of the national online venues.
Along with Terminal T1, which was put into operation in 2016, it is expected that when completed and put into operation, Terminal T2 will contribute to attracting aviation enterprises to open routes, improving air transport capacity, meeting the development requirements of Hai Phong city in the new period. According to ACV representative, Terminal T2 will become a domestic terminal, transporting passengers on domestic routes because the passenger traffic through Terminal T1 currently exceeds the initial design capacity (2 million passengers/year).
According to the plan, ACV will work with consulting units and joint contractors to mobilize maximum resources, apply advanced management solutions, strictly comply with technical standards, safety, quality, put the project into operation on schedule with high quality, ensure the highest efficiency, strive to complete the construction of Terminal T2 after 18 months. The diversification of flight routes after the completion of Terminal T2 will create a new driving force for  aviation transport for the city, including routes that will quickly connect Hai Phong to the world.
