The memorial speech presented by Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung reviewed the background, great career and gratitude for the great merits of the National Hero and World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai for the country.

Nguyen Trai, nicknamed Uc Trai, was born in 1380 in the Thang Long Citadel, was the son of Nguyen Phi Khanh and the grandson of the official Tu Tran Nguyen Dan. His childhood was associated with Con Son - a land of special significance in Nguyen Trai's life and career. Here, he had years of living, studying, reflecting on the times and forming many deep thoughts and feelings for his homeland and country.

In 1400, when he was only 20 years old, Nguyen Trai passed Thai as a student and worked as an official under the Ho Dynasty. When the country fell under the yoke of the Ming Dynasty, he participated in the Lam Son uprising, offered Binh Ngo books, contributed to Le Loi and the Lam Son rebels in waging a resistance war to regain independence for the nation.

After the victory of the Lam Son uprising, Nguyen Trai was the author of Binh Ngo Dai Cao, a unique political essay that is considered a declaration of national independence, as well as a work of special value in the history of Vietnamese literature. This year's commemoration ceremony takes place within the framework of the Con Son - Silver Life Festival in the autumn of 2026, which will be held from September 26 to October 4, that is, from August 16 to 24 in the year of the Horse. The festival is associated with two major commemorative events, namely the 584th anniversary of the death of the national hero, World cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai and the 726th anniversary of the death of Hung Dao National Hero Tran Quoc Tuan.

In particular, this year's festival takes place in the space of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Complex of relics and scenic spots, Kiep Bac after being registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. In Hai Phong, there are 5 component relics of the Heritage Complex including Con Son Pagoda, Kiep Bac Temple, Thanh Mai Pagoda, Kinh Chu Cave and Nham Duong Pagoda. This is an important condition for the city to continue to preserve and promote historical and cultural values, and at the same time connect destinations, develop typical cultural tourism products.
