The new master plan will help Hai Phong city continue to affirm its role as an important economic growth pillar, a center of industry, logistics services, sea tourism and an international trade gateway for the North and the whole country. The new master plan requires synchronization in the direction of shifting the modern industrial structure, applying high technology (the main pillar is the processing and manufacturing industry) and developing the marine economy so as to become a hub of national service and logistics center, international tourism and international trade.
