Hai Phong City Entering a New Era
Hai Phong City has marked 2024 with remarkable achievements, establishing a solid foundation not only for the year but for the entire term. Once again, the resilience and determination of Hai Phongs people to overcome difficulties and pursue growth have been demonstrated more clearly than ever. With joy and excitement, Hai Phong steps into the new year of 2025 with confidence, hope, and promising prospects, determined to realize its aspirations and join the country in an era of national rise.
In the past year, Hai Phong has achieved notable results thanks to the determination to act, flexible adaptation, overcoming difficulties and challenges, and seizing opportunities in socio-economic development. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate reached 11.01%, ranking third in the country, first in the Red River Delta, and first among the five centrally-run cities, marking a decade of double-digit growth for the locality. Hai Phong completed 17 out of 19 socio-economic targets, with many important indicators meeting or exceeding plans, such as attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), revenue collection, and more. Several large projects in transportation, industry, and urban development were inaugurated and completed. Throughout the year, the central government, the National Assembly, and the Government have issued several resolutions and new mechanisms that opened up new development opportunities for the city.
2025 is a pivotal milestone in the development journey of Hai Phong City and the nation, a year of particular significance that will determine the success of the implementation of the Resolution of the 16th City Party Congress. It will also lay the foundation for Hai Phong to enter a new era of growing along with the country. The city’s Party Committee, government, military, and people are determined and committed to achieving the goals for 2025 under the theme: "Expanding economic and urban space; leveraging special mechanisms and policies; enhancing green and digital transformation," with specific results and outcomes.
Hai Phong has achieved successes that many other regions have not, despite having the same context and institutional framework…- This statement was made by General Secretary To Lam during his working visit to Hai Phong City last November. It is the strong will, unity, and determination, which have always been a valuable tradition of Hai Phong people that have made the difference.
With its strategic position and exceptional potential, as well as the special attention from the central government, together with new mechanisms and policies, Hai Phong has the necessary conditions to continue developing in a balanced and sustainable manner, turning its aspirations into reality. The city is not only expected to catch up but to lead in global development trends, as it and the entire nation step into a new era of national progress./.
