The Cargo Terminal - Cat Bi International Airport project has officially commenced with a total investment of VND 724 billion, a capacity of 100.000 tons of cargo per year, and a synchronous technical infrastructure system, with the ability to expand to 250.000 tons of cargo per year. This is a Group B project invested by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV); built on a total area of ​​over 86,700 square meters. The project includes the main items: the cargo terminal; car park, and traffic route connecting the cargo terminal with the existing traffic system of Hai Phong City.

Hai Phong City has attracted more than 1,000 foreign direct investment enterprises with a total capital of over 32 billion USD, and 228 domestic projects with a total investment capital of 13.7 billion USD. The cargo terminal project plays an important role in the logistics chain; it is considered a driving force in meeting the growing trend of air freight transport. The investment in the construction of a cargo terminal is an urgent need, in line with the planning and development goals of Hai Phong City to become a logistics center, ensuring warehouse conditions, and connecting all types of integrated freight transport.
