In the previous term, Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province both obtained comprehensive achievements in all fields. After the merger, Hai Phong tourism sector has expanded its scope with diverse tourism products based on the strengths of the two localities, from sea tourism to spiritual and cultural tourism, rural eco-tourism and sports tourism. These strengths facilitates the city to build Hai Phong into a four-season tourist destination. In the first 10 months of this year, Hai Phong welcomed more than 11.8 million visitors. Notably, the city has had two places recognized as the World Heritage Sites. They are Cat Ba archipelago and Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site. According to statistics, in just 2 days of September 27-28 at the recent autumn festival, Con Son - Kiep Bac World Cultural Heritage welcomed about 65,000 visitors, 4.3 times higher than the same period in 2023.
With the concretization of the Congress’s resolution with specific projects including the overall project for tourism development in Hai Phong city until 2030, with a vision to 2045, it shows that Hai Phong is on the right track when determining to develop sea tourism, heritage and culture associated with international integration, form tourism routes linking seas with islands and heritages, promote investment in transport infrastructure, at the same time apply strong digital transformation in tourism management and experience. That lays the foundation for the city’s tourism industry to receive 25 million tourists by 2030 as the set target.
