In 1986, in Decision No. 235/VH-QD dated December 12, 1986, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) recognized the site as a national historical relic under the name “Tu Luong Xam historical relic area - Ngo Quyen's headquarters in 938, Nam Hai commune, An Hai district.”
The Tu Luong Xam Festival is the biggest in Hai An district, held from January 14 to 18 every year. In 2022, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized the Tu Luong Xam Traditional Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - Secretary of Hai An District Party Committee emphasized that the Government's recognition of Tu Luong Xam Relic Area- Ngo Quyen's Headquarters in 938 as a special national relic and Tu Luong Xam Festival as a national intangible heritage is an prideful. It also means a great responsibility for the Party Committee, government and people of Hai An district in particular and the people of the Port City in general to preserve and promote the value of the relics. The leaders of Hai An district are committed to continuing the tasks so that the values of the relic complex will last and become a spiritual and cultural location, with patriotic educational value for today's and future generations.
Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: The relic is special in worshiping King Ngo Quyen in Hai Phong City. The antiquities, such as royal decrees, stone steles, worship objects, and architectural structures carved in the artistic style of the Le Trung Hung period in the 17th century and the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th and 20th centuries, are clear evidence of the history of existence and development of the relic over many centuries. Associated with the Tu Luong Xam relic, the Tu Luong Xam festival takes place from January 16 to 18 every year to express the awareness, feelings, and consciousness of the city's people towards their ancestors, and to remember and express gratitude and respect for King Ngo Quyen./.
