The “Under the Light of the Star of Independence” Art Program to take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 2, 2026, at the City Theater Square September 1, 2026 – 9:39 p.m.

The art program consists of two parts.

Part I: “Glorious Memories”

Part I, themed “Glorious Memories,” takes audiences back to the nation’s proud historical milestones, from President Ho Chi Minh’s journey abroad in search of a path to national liberation, to the successful August Revolution of 1945, which ushered in an era of independence and freedom associated with socialism.

The program recreates the nation’s great victories during the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism. It also portrays Viet Nam’s journey of national renewal, highlighting its major achievements of historic significance that have contributed to the country’s present-day development, stature, and appearance.

Part I opens with the instrumental piece “The Flame from the Workers’ Quarter,” followed by the song “Telling the Story of a Communist” (composed by Tran Hoan, Anh Viet, and Ho An), the instrumental piece “19/8,” and the song “Sunshine over Ba Đinh” (composed by Bui Cong Ky). These are followed by the medley “Mother Loves Her Child – What Could Be More Beautiful” (composed by Nguyen Van Ty and Nguyen Hung) and the song “Volunteer” (composed by Truong Quoc Khanh). Part I concludes with “The Road We Take” (composed by Huy Du, lyrics by Xuan Sach).The performances are arranged as a seamless sequence, combining music, dance, and stage props in harmony with the spirit, content, and message of each piece. LED screens display beautiful images that recreate the heroic atmosphere and revolutionary spirit of the Vietnamese people. Narration is incorporated over musical introductions or between songs, creating a profound and emotional atmosphere.

At the same time, the program highlights the country’s important and notable achievements in recent years, expressing national pride, confidence, and the Vietnamese people’s strong aspiration to advance and prosper in the new era.

Part II features a collection of nine songs combining lyrical and contemporary musical styles, showcasing distinctive Vietnamese cultural and artistic values. The repertoire includes:

• “Since That Autumn” (composed by Đoàn Nguyễn Hiếu)
• “The Party’s Will and the People’s Heart” (composed by Hoàng Hồng Ngọc)
• Medley “There Is a Flag Hung in My Home – The Fatherland Beneath the Sun” (composed by DTap and Long Ca)
• Medley “My Hometown Seaport – Our City, Our Factories” (composed by Hồ Bắc and Hoàng Vân)
• Medley “Writing the Next Chapter of the Story of Peace – Love for the Fatherland – Vietnam Proudly Steps into the Future” (composed by Phạm Việt Tuân and Nguyễn Văn Chung)

The program is produced by a creative team comprising Lieutenant Colonel and writer Phạm Vân Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Military Writers’ Association Chapter, as scriptwriter; Meritorious Artist Lê Hải as director; Meritorious Artist Đức Hoài in charge of the program; choreographer Duy Đức; music director Minh Hiếu; People’s Artist Đạt Tăng as stage designer; Meritorious Artist Kim Tiến providing the narration; and Trịnh Hoàng Media responsible for stage construction, among others.

The program is performed by the artists and performers of the Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater and the Military Arts Troupe of Military Region 3.

At the appraisal session, the City Arts Council provided comments and recommendations to help the production team finalize the program before its official presentation to the public at 8:00 p.m. on September 2 at the City Theater Square.
