Nearly 1.2 million students in Hai Phong negin the 2026–2027 school year
On this occasion, city leaders organized delegations to attend opening ceremonies, visit schools and encourage teachers and students. Ngo Quyen High School in Le Chan Ward was selected as Hai Phong’s main connection point, linked online with the central venue at Muong Khuong Ethnic Boarding School in Muong Khuong Commune, Lao Cai Province. Educational institutions across the city joined the nationwide opening program via live broadcasts on VTV1 or VOV1.

At schools across the city, opening ceremonies were held in a solemn, safe, practical and economical manner, tailored to the characteristics of each educational level and placing students at the center. Delegates, teachers and students participated in the flag-raising ceremony, sang the national anthem, listened to a letter from General Secretary and President To Lam to the education sector on the occasion of the new school year, and performed the traditional drum-beating ceremony to officially open the academic year.

At Ngo Quyen High School, central and city leaders presented the school with a computer science classroom and a STEM classroom, contributing to the innovation of teaching methods and promoting digital transformation in education. Other schools across the city also received smart displays, teaching equipment and facilities to support learning.

The 2026–2027 school year marks a number of changes in Hai Phong’s education system. Several schools have been established through mergers, helping consolidate resources, teaching staff and facilities and creating a stronger foundation for improving educational quality. Notably, Nam Hai Primary and Lower Secondary School was formed through the merger of two schools, while An Thanh Lower Secondary School was established through the merger of three lower secondary schools.

Alongside efforts to improve educational quality, schools continue to accelerate digital transformation, innovate teaching methods and build safe, friendly, modern and happy learning environments. Support for students facing difficult circumstances has also received particular attention. Le Chan High School awarded scholarships and gifts to 71 disadvantaged students, while An Thanh Lower Secondary School received an “Electronic Library” and 20 gift packages for students facing hardship.

For preschool education, schools organized activities under the theme “Children’s Day at School,” adopting a joyful and flexible approach suited to children’s psychology, health and developmental characteristics.

A highlight of this year’s opening ceremonies was a documentary introducing the construction of multi-level boarding schools in mainland border communes. Students also witnessed ribbon-cutting ceremonies, handover events and the inauguration of the new facilities.

With the enthusiasm of the new school year, Hai Phong’s education sector will continue to focus on innovation, improve comprehensive educational quality, accelerate digital transformation and build modern and humane educational environments, laying a strong foundation for students’ all-round development and meeting the demands of the new period.
