Smart robots introduced for railway services
Viet Nam Railways has recently introduced service robots in the VIP carriage of the Red Flamboyant train operating on the Hai Phong–Hanoi route. The initiative forms part of its strategy to apply science and technology, offering passengers a more convenient travel experience.

The robots are equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), sensors and obstacle detection systems, allowing them to move flexibly within the confined space of a railway carriage. They assist with welcoming passengers, guiding them to their seats, introducing onboard services, providing journey information and delivering food and beverages directly to tables. Integrated with the carriage seating layout, the robots automatically deliver orders once a table number is selected. Each VIP carriage currently has one service attendant, making the robots an effective solution to improve operational efficiency.
The Red Flamboyant train is a premium passenger service on the Hai Phong–Hanoi route, equipped with modern amenities to meet growing travel and tourism demand. The addition of service robots in the VIP carriage not only highlights the use of advanced technology but also enhances the appeal of the railway tourism product linking the two cities. The train was launched on May 10, 2025, featuring a modern design and premium interior inspired by the flamboyant flower, the symbol of the northern port city. The service operates eight trips daily, including four departures from Hai Phong to Hanoi and four return services, stopping at major stations along the route.
