Haiphong lays red carpet for Japanese investors
“Haiphong always creates the most favorable
conditions for foreign enterprises to invest in the city” – that is Chairman
Duong AnhDien’s confirmation at a recent meeting between Haiphong People’s
Committee and Keidanren enterprises delegation (Japan) who visited Haiphong to
learn about the city’s potentials and investment opportunities.

“Haiphong always creates the most favorable
conditions for foreign enterprises to invest in the city” – that is Chairman
Duong AnhDien’s confirmation at a recent meeting between Haiphong People’s
Committee and Keidanren enterprises delegation (Japan) who visited Haiphong to
learn about the city’s potentials and investment opportunities.
Being the main gate for Northern
provinces to approach the sea with convenient transport system and the most
preferential incentives, Haiphong has become an ideal destination for investors
and been in the Top 10 provinces in FDI attraction.
Economic zone and industrial zones in
Haiphong have attracted many investors with the average occupancy rate of
around 50%, in which the 100% occupied Nomura Haiphong Industrial Zone is a
typical industrial zone in planning, infrastructure development and investment
attraction.
As of July 2013, economic zone and
industrial zones in Haiphong have attracted total investment capital of about
USD 10 billion, in which FDI projects registered USD 5 billion and that from
domestic sector is approximately USD 2 billion. Among nearly 30 countries and
territories having investment projects in economic zone and industrial zones in
Haiphong, Japan takes the lead.
Many projects are from world leading corporations,
such as General Electric, Kyocera, Bridgestone, NiproPharma, Toyota, LG.
Haiphong always fulfills investors’
requirements, Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Duong AnhDien emphasized.
At present, with 4 universities, 8
colleges and 50 vocation training schools, Haiphong can provide enough high
quality human resource for enterprises in the city.
According to Mr. Dien, the city is
fostering investment promotion toward the orientation which is selective of
high technology, environmentally friendly and supporting industry projects in
port development, logistics; and creating a clean investment environment and
clear administrative procedures.
Simultaneously,
the city is speeding up the progress of infrastructure projects, such as construction
of LachHuyen deep seaport, upgrading of Cat Bi airport to an international
airport which targets to complete and put into operation by 2015. One of the
earliest international air routes which is planned toopen in Cat Bi airport is
Haiphong – Japan with the flight duration of 4 hours. The Hanoi – Haiphong
expressway which schedules to complete in the next 2 years will reduce travel
time between provinces and cities in the region.
