Welcoming the King and Queen of Belgium, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung informed Belgian delegation about some socio-economic features of the city, emphasizing Hai Phong's position in the Northern region, with a synchronous infrastructure system, inter-regional and international traffic connections; the largest seaport system in the North and upcoming high-speed railway projects. Currently, Hai Phong is actively establishing more industrial parks ready to attract new investors. The Government has also just announced the Decision to establish the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone with many favorable conditions to develop more projects on airports, Nam Do Son port, free trade zones, industrial parks, industrial clusters, new urban areas, etc.

Over the years, Hai Phong City has continuously promoted cooperation with the Kingdom of Belgium in many fields–economics - trade, foreign direct investment, education and scientific research. As of February 2025, Hai Phong currently has eight FDI projects of Belgian investors with a total capital of up to 743.22 million USD. Belgian corporations and enterprises have invested in the city in the fields of industrial park (IP) infrastructure business and maritime services, electricity, hotel and business. Notably, DEEP C Industrial Park Complex is the city’s largest and most extensive cooperation project, contributing significantly to the development of the IP system and attracting FDI investment in Hai Phong. The city is committed to providing favorable conditions, supporting and accompanying Belgian enterprises to invest and do business in Hai Phong.

King Philippe of the Kingdom of Belgium shared he is very proud that Belgian companies such as DEEP C and many others are investing and developing in Hai Phong City. He hopes that this will be a driving force to promote bilateral cooperation and attract more attention from the Belgian business community. At the same time, he affirmed that Vietnam is truly the gateway to Southeast Asia and Hai Phong City in particular is a destination full of potential.

After working with the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Belgium traveled to Cat Ba Island by cable car - an ecological means of transport. The delegation of Ministers - Prime Ministers of the Government of the Brussels Capital Region and leaders of Belgian corporations and enterprises also visited and worked at the VinFast automobile and electric motorbike manufacturing factory and DEEP C Hai Phong 2 Industrial Park./.
