Strengthening Cooperation Between Hai Phong City And The United States​
This morning, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee, and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation, welcomed the US Embassy delegation in Vietnam led by Mr. Marc Knapper, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam. Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City Peoples Committee, also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the Ambassador and delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong City, Secretary of the city’s Party Committee Le Tien Chau acknowledged the embassy’s activities that contributed to promoting cooperative relations between Vietnam and the United States in the past. The Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee expressed hopes that Ambassador Knapper would pay attention, promote connections, and speed up the realization of the cooperation memorandum between the two sides. Currently, the city is urgently preparing to build a new ecological and sustainable economic zone in the city’s south that will integrate circular economic activities associated with the development of a free trade zone. The city wished to learn from the US experts’ advice, practical experiences, and management methods for effective implementation. Hai Phong City also wanted to promote cooperation in educating and training high-quality human resources for the city and other localities in the Red River Delta region, emphasizing the training of engineers in microchip technology and manufacturing. The Secretary of the Hai Phong City’s Party Committee also proposed that the two sides should increase exchanges, strengthen cooperation, and establish local connections between Hai Phong and several US localities to deploy cooperation effectively in fields of mutual interest to bring practical and sustainable benefits to both sides. 

For his part, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America Vietnam Marc Knapper expressed his good impression when returning to Hai Phong. The Ambassador affirmed that the United States maintained its commitment to cooperate and support Vietnam in general and Hai Phong City in particular on human resource training, semiconductor technology, digital transformation, investment in infrastructure, clean energy, healthcare, education, etc. Upon appreciating the support of the city government towards US businesses investing in Hai Phong City, the Ambassador showed agreement with the city’s cooperation proposals, affirming that the meeting would open up many opportunities for investment cooperation, contributing to strengthening and deepening relations between the two sides./.
