Cargo throughput in the port area reached 9.8 million tons, while Vietnamese and foreign vessels making calls at or departing from Hai Phong ports totaled 3,888. Maritime traffic safety and security in the area remained stable.

The Hai Phong Maritime Administration maintained close coordination with specialized state agencies and other authorities at the port. Administrative reforms continued to receive attention, helping remove difficulties for organizations, individuals and businesses and supporting the development of maritime activities in the area.

The Hai Phong Maritime Administration also stepped up communications on measures to ensure maritime and inland waterway safety for vessels operating at sea and in Hai Phong port waters amid unfavorable weather. It also raised awareness among shipbuilding and repair facilities and transport companies in the area about the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009
