HAI PHONG PORT MAINTAINS LEADING POSITION IN TERMS OF EXPLOITATION SCALE
With its long history, Hai Phong Port has increasingly affirmed its
leading role in the Northern region through investment in equipment and
improving exploitation capacity, especially at deep-water terminals outside
Lach Huyen. Recently, a member port in Hai Phong Port system, Hai Phong
Port TIL International Terminal (HTIT), has successfully handled the largest
container vessels at terminals No.3 and No. 4 of Lach Huyen Port, marking an
important step forward in improving exploitation capacity.
MSC KALINA has a total length of 366.06 m, draft of 12.2 m and a total
tonnage of 162,867 DWT. Receiving and releasing cargo on MSC KALINA poses
a large workload, requiring synchronous coordination among exploitation forces,
as well as modern equipment and port infrastructure.
Putting into operation international container terminals No. 3 and No. 4 in
Lach Huyen according to the green, smart port model, applying automation
technology; Hai Phong Port TIL International Terminal (HTIT) is expected to
become a modern cargo transit center, directly connecting international shipping
routes, improving import-export capacity, promoting investment attraction,
developing the logistics industry and supply chain in Vietnam in a sustainable
direction. When operating at full capacity, HTIT will contribute to supplementing
the loading and unloading capacity of Hai Phong Port by 1.35 - 1.5 million
TEU/year; increasing the total operating capacity of Hai Phong Port to an
estimated 4 million TEU this year, affirming the position of Hai Phong Port system
as the largest port operator and the leading in the port industry in the Northern
region.
