Hai Phong emerges as a model for carbon-free industrial parks
Stepping up the green transition and cutting greenhouse gas emissions, Chinese companies are actively developing factories under the carbon-free industrial park model in Hai Phong, to promote sustainable development.
The Guangde Economic Development Zone in Anhui Province is one of 52 industrial parks across China selected to pilot the development of national-level carbon-free industrial parks. The model not only aims to reduce domestic emissions but also opens up opportunities for cooperation with other countries, including Vietnam.
“Guangde was selected for the list of national-level carbon-free industrial park development pilots in 2025. There are 52 such parks nationwide, two of them in Anhui Province, and we are one of them. The development plan will be implemented over three years and is expected to be completed in 2028. The initial target is to reduce carbon emissions per unit of energy consumption to 0.2 tonnes, while increasing the share of green electricity to more than 90%.”
One of the companies involved in developing the carbon-free industrial park model in Guangde is GoodWe Power Supply Technology Co., Ltd. The company has also invested in a factory in Hai Phong to tap the city's market potential and geographical advantages as a port city. “We see Vietnam as having a very favorable investment environment and significant market potential. In particular, Hai Phong's geographical location is highly suitable for the production of our company's inverters.”
The carbon-free industrial park model in Guangde shows that the green transition is not only an environmental requirement but also a driver of technological innovation and improved business competitiveness.
