Hateco Port officially began commercial operations at berths 5 and 6 of the Lach Huyen port area in early February 2025. Since then, the port has handled large container vessels on direct international shipping routes to and from Hai Phong. Average cargo handling productivity stands at around 30 containers per crane per hour, with peak productivity reaching 42 containers per crane per hour, comparable with leading container ports worldwide.

Hateco Port is the first port in northern Vietnam to deploy a fully automated gate system integrated with the Terminal Appointment System (TAS), enabling trucks to schedule appointments in advance without waiting. All trucks entering the port use the automated gate system and truck appointment application.

In recent years, Hai Phong's seaport system has adopted modern technologies to automate multiple stages of cargo handling, improving operational efficiency, optimizing processes, lowering costs and enhancing competitiveness. The adoption of digital technologies in port services has helped improve operational efficiency while reinforcing Hai Phong's role in the global supply chain and enhancing its attractiveness to investors.
