Guidance On Waste Classification At Source
The Law on Environmental Protection 2020 stipulates that December 31 is the latest deadline for classifying domestic solid waste nationwide. Households and individuals can be fined up to 1 million VND if they do not classify domestic solid waste and do not use packaging according to regulations.

Thus, there are only about two weeks left before the regulation requiring the classification of solid waste at source takes effect. Accordingly, households will have to classify waste into three groups according to the provisions of the Law. To better understand the specific classification for each group of domestic solid waste, it is necessary to pay attention to learn specific instructions.
To create uniformity and a closed process for the collection and transportation of domestic solid waste after it has been classified by households, Haiphong Urban Environment Limited Company has put three-compartment collection vehicles into use, with colors corresponding to each group of waste classified according to regulations, accordingly, the white compartment contains recyclable waste, the blue compartment contains food and organic waste, and the yellow compartment contains other domestic waste.
After the vehicles bring the classified waste to the collection point, the company uses separate transport vehicles to deliver each type of waste to the treatment site. Accordingly, food and organic waste are used as raw materials to be processed into compost to serve the agricultural sector, and recycled waste is recycled into useful products to serve the circular economy. As for other domestic waste, the company is currently treating it by landfill. By 2027, according to the plan, Hai Phong City will have a waste-to-energy incineration plant, and this type of waste will continue to be classified into two groups: burnable waste and non-burnable waste for appropriate treatment. /.
